Albania has long prioritized public awareness efforts to combat harmful gender stereotypes and prejudices that contribute to violence against women. These initiatives, led by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in partnership with other ministries, local institutions, civil society organizations, and international agencies, aim to shift public attitudes and promote gender equality. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (November 25 - December 10) and International Women's Day in March serve as key moments for awareness campaigns. The 2019-2021 campaigns involved hundreds of activities across the country, utilizing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) to reach millions with messages, videos, and infographics. The campaigns also included TV interviews, public exhibitions, and the distribution of promotional messages in public spaces like shopping centers and squares. These efforts saw active involvement from businesses, institutions, and media outlets.
